Welcome to Hides of Africa

Hides of Africa is a family run business. With the original and the current owners born and raised in Africa, a continent rich in culture. We take pride in stocking our store with a wide variety of hand-selected artefacts and products, many of which have a story behind them.

Nguni hides

The Nguni cattle breed is native to Southern Africa and has become part of the spiritual and aesthetic lives of the African people. The hide patterns are varied and no two animals are alike which makes them extremely unique and popular.

Game hides

Locally sources games hide such as springbok, zebra, and wildebeest just to mention a few.

All animal by-products are obtained through legitimate culling programmes and we work closely with Ezemvelo/KZN Wildlife to ensure all products are legal.

Leather products

We source locally manufactured bags, wallets, purses, belts and shoes. We have something for everybody!

Curios

Our curios are sourced from around Southern Africa. Some curious are readily available, while others are unique handcrafted, one of a kind pieces.

Ceramics

We stock a unique range of ceramic Nguni cattle, horses and wildlife including buffalo, cheetah and antelope (Kudu and Nyala).
