Struan Gilson, Ironically inspired by Richard Branson’s Autobiography decided to leave Virgin Active, in 2007 and pursue his entrepreneurial dream of owning his own business, he recruited his younger brother Blake and together they have built the Brand “Hides” into the business it is today.

Blake who is the muscle behind the Machine, and Co-owner at Hides, has been with the company from its inception in 2007, Blake also sees to the Design, Manufacturing and production of everything that comes from our factory.
The New Factory location between Merrivale & Howick Falls, is at the Dulcet Center 115 Old Main Rd.
The Dulcet center will soon be a destination stop off on the midlands meander…so watch this space!
Lindiwe Miya, lives near Howick in Mevana and supports her family living in Impendle which is situated half way between Howick & Underberg in Kwa-Zulu Natal.
She Makes our Nguni leather and Hide: Cushions, Handbags, Board games and the Beautiful Nguni patch mats.
Innocent Milanzi, is from Mpophomeni near Howick, he has been working with us since we acquired Hangaboutz Hammocks in 2008, and besides making arguably one of the most comfortable hammocks in South Africa, he also helps with Leatherwork and design of Patch mats etc.
Jo Mchunu hails from Mafakatini near Mpophomeni, although he is a skilled wood worker by trade he manufactures all of our quality Veg-Tanned belts.
Jo single handedly machine presses all leather pannelling that goes into those quality leather cushions and handbags in our stores.
Thokozani and Eunice are the newest members to the Hides team, also from Impendle – she is a seamstress and quietly does all the attention to detail work and lining each handbag.
